| Been a while since my last update. Sorry guys and gals. Been busy with lots of stuffs, you know. Anyhow, lets see... Started new semester at MPC. Taking English 111 on Mondays, Wensdays, and Fridays from 11-12am; Computer Applications In Music on Wensdays from 1-4pm, PC Repair on Wensdays from 6-9:30pm, and Programming 10b on saturdays from 9am-2pm. Sounds like alot, but really isn't in terms of work, and I enjoy the hours anyway. Met lots of people in school. I like one...but shes only going out with a certain type of person...and I don't qualify. Fortunatly I think I can live with that and just be friends, unlike other...less wonderful things that happend. Went over to her house today. Did some archery, watched batman cartoons (shes a little fanatic about comics and such), played chess...just normal stuff. It was fun.
Also, work has finally commenced on Zeeks game. We got started and I made some interesting models for cities. I'm still working on it, and It may be a while before its perfect. I'm hoping to use some plugins and scripts for 3ds max to help with things like the roadway and citybuilding. I really need a tool that will scatter things without them intersecting, But what I have now should work for a while.
Turning 18 soon. Unlike many, I'm not really that enthused about becoming "legal". I suppose it would be more attractive if there was someone to be "legal" WITH, but as theres not it all seems kind of boring. Never really got that whole thing anyway. Whenever Ive had a birthday, I always feel slightly giped. Theres no big changes, no revilations, and unfortunatly no giants telling me I'm a wizard. I always feel the same as the day before. Dissapointing, I tells ya!
Anyhow....Yeah. Bored now. See ya. bye! BYE! BYE!

| Up all night programming. 126 lines of fairly complicated ActionScript in about 24 hours. If I were more experianced it wouln't take 24 hours, but I had to figure out how to use the Array class, and dynamicly put symbols on the stage, and relearn how to use the eval function (A feature I wish other languages had. its damn usefull). All this for a Particle System API.
(Warning, Geeky in the next 4 paragraphs) At this point in the entry I realize I am out of many peoples depth, or more accuratly (but less humbly) they are out of mine. So I shall explain. ActionScript is the language used by Flash, a program for creating web multimedia. but you probably already knew that. lets move on the the next confusing phrase, "Array class". First, a "class" is description of a thing in a programming language. If I were to make a class of a bubble, it would contain variables for the bubbles radius, maybe its hight off the ground, and how fast its moving. I say maybe because, as I'm programming the class, I might realize I don't need its height off the ground for what I'm doing, So I leave that variable out. Not only do classes describe the objects various properties, it also describes what they do. for instance, I may have a method (Geek for "discription for a behavior of an object") for making my bubble float. It would tell the computer to change some of the variables to indicate my bubble was floating (like increasing the "height off of ground" variable).
Next we have the term "Array". An array is a merely a list of variables. However you can access these variables by using just the arrays name and an index (number specifying the place in the array). This is useful if you want to do a procedure on a large number of objects. Instead of doing the procedure for each one, you l"oop through the array" (the process of going through the array in sequence) and apply the procedure. Heres what it would look like in RFSMUCL (Really Fucking Simple Made Up Language)
There is a number I want to call C. There is an array of length 10 I want to call MyArray. It is empty.
For each number starting from 0, I will asisgn that number to C, run the statements below, increase C by one, and when I find the word NEXT, come back here and check if C is less than 10, if it is, I do the below statments again. if its not, I Go on and skip them.
Assign the value of C to MyArray at index C
NEXT
I know its kind of hard to understand, but all that does is make a list of numbers from 0 to 9. Why do it this way you ask? to avoid this.
There is a number I want to call A There is a number I want to call B There is a number I want to call C There is a number I want to call D There is a number I want to call E There is a number I want to call F There is a number I want to call G There is a number I want to call H There is a number I want to call I There is a number I want to call J Make A equal 1 Make B equal 2 Make C equal 3 ....
See the difference? Thats not to bad, but in my program (and many others) I'm using over 100 elements. So the above code..sucks.
The next confusing term (Some of you might be saying its all confusing. Its not. I just suck at explaining it right now) is "Dynamically puting symbols on the stage". First some definitions. Stage:In Flash, The screen Symbols: Things, usually graphics of some sort. For those of you who know flash, you know you usually have to put things on the stage to make them visible and do things. But there are times when this is not the best option in the world. Say you want something to appear at the mouse when the user clicks the mouse. you could do it a few ways, but the fastest and most shiny method is to do it Dynamically. Dynamically pretty much means you dont know what your going to do with it untill right before its used. So how do you do it? Im not telling you right now, cause ive used too much space already.
Next we have the eval function. This is hard to explain to beginners, but basically, in computer programming you cant make variables that you don't know the name. fortunatly, flash has the wonderfull feature of turning strings (groups of charaters) into variable names for you. This eliminates the problem. YAY!
And last, API. API is short for Application Programming Interface. an API is a bunch of files that have classes, functions, and other tools for completeing a certain task. In the one I'm making, the task is to create a System of particles, on which various procedures can be applied and specific effects produced. YAY!
Anyway. So my API will be used for things like special effects. Mouse trailers, Explosions, Smoke, etc. It's already fairly powerful, but I'm still going to add to it, though I am making an example flash document to show everyone what it can do. Expect it at ginkner.deivantart.com. There will also be a full documentation of it, allowing artists (Looking at you Abner and Zeek) to use it in your movies. This documentation will include a small introduction to programming in ActionScript as well as tutorials on how to achieve certain effects.
Thanks for playing!

| Which would make a good name of a band, now that I think about it. Lets see if I can think of some more.... Mr.Pip and the Wonder Weasles The JoeBob Complex Hippies on Acid The Floating Turds Acid Reflex Blown Lightbulbs The Letter 7 and The Anal Sex Monkeys
Tell me what you think. ^^
More to news. Bored. Very bored. Always bored. geh. Sitting on a couch writing this entry....at school. I need a girlfriend. Which, as luck would have it, might not be too far off. I signed up for Match.com, (No im not desperate. Its just a hell of a lot easier than walking around town looking for them), and made contact with a cute girl.. she lives in turlock >< but she comes home to marina alot. Who knows? Anyway its nothing serious. So you peoples dont have to worry.
Got a 13/15 on my math quiz! YAY ME! Its my best score so far, so im fairly happy. *boredom hits and Ben spaces out for about 10 min* Eh? Oh yeah I was talking. My neck hurts.
Random peices of balogna are attacking me in my dreams. Meanwhile, ex-techsupport peole are trying to get into my house to give me ba advice about things they know nothing about. However, their better than the actuall tech support people, who I cant understand because they seem to be speaking Fleen. As I dont know Fleen, and have not met anyone who knows Fleen, I cannot understand what they are saying. no, Fleen is not an actual language. DURRRR! Penguins! they are cuddly and cute. Why cant I date a penguin? The first reason that comes to mind is....well its a penguin. interspiecese relationships rarely last (as Captian Kirk prooved). I suppose we could work it out. Assuming I learned penguin. Or is it Penguineese? I dont know. But I dont think a penguin could learn english. Their brains are too small. Theres antother good reason. The conversation would suck. WHY am I writing about why its not ok to date a penguin? I dont know. As stated below, BOREDOM KILLS! Perhaps this is the first phase. I wonder what the next phase is. If its random leg movement im farther along than I thought. Im gonna go now. Bye!

| Wazzup mah homies!? I is teh gangstah now, heh heh heh. NOT! So I've graduated. Yay me. College is ok, though not great. Im looking foward to some of you guys coming to MPC next year, cause right now its fairly boring. I found our group though. In the sense of the "Strange-anime-loving-smash-bros-playing-random-stuff-saying-people", they are our people! As we speak, Jonny is playing ping-pong, and kayla is playing foozball agains...I think his name is ryan. There are about 4 people playing SuperSmashBros (they bring their own TV and system). Oh and we have couches! YES! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! anywhoo...yeah I found the geek group. So be joyous, fellow geeks. You will be welcome.
In other more personal news, I have chosen a college. Ive decided to go to UCSC, cause they have the computer science program that looked the best. I have also chosen to major in computer science. The requirements are.....fairly scary. Chem 1A and B, Physics, Calc1, 2, and 3. My main concern is the math. Its just so...mathy. And I enjoy math, but usually I have some Idea about what im getting into. I have NO idea what calc 3 covers. Maybe I should look it up. But right now im lazy, so yeah.
I dont care what you say. Avatar is cool. I watched every episode so far on youtube (it DOES have its uses after all) and decided I liked it. To you who dont I say BRAHGESCHLORGENFARK! And besides, Aang looks badass when he goes all avatary and glowy.
So anyway....yeah bored now. Hope I get lots of comments. I like comments. GIVE ME COMMENTS! NOW! I DEMAND THEM FROM THOSE WHO READ THE HOLY SCRIPT! ahem....sorry I must have doesd off BuhBye for now.
